ABOUT
Tanya Rivero is the WABC-TV  Weekend Evening News co-anchor at 5pm, 6pm & 11pm on Channel 7 Eyewitness News. She has extensive experience on both ABC & CBS News networks, where she has covered US politics, world events, & breaking news, both in the field and in the anchor chair.

She hosted her own show, "Lunch Break with Tanya Rivero" on The Wall Street Journal's video platform, interviewing world leaders in politics, business, and the arts.

She has interviewed newsmakers including Pete Buttigieg, Jimmy Carter, Richard Branson, Julianne Moore, Jeff Koons, Jane Goodall, and many more. She was the first network journalist to interview Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and has also interviewed Senators Kirsten Gillibrand, Tim Kaine, and Tammy Duckworth, to name a few.

Rivero anchored extensive live coverage of the 2020 election, the January 6th assault on the U.S. Capitol, the death of Queen Elizabeth, the overturning of Roe v. Wade, and the release of the Mueller Report.

Rivero reported on the Uvalde, TX school shooting as one of the first national correspondents on the scene. She provided in-depth coverage of the nation's COVID-19 pandemic, and anchored an hour-long CBS News special, for which she interviewed Dr. Anthony Fauci.

She is a graduate of Yale University and the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.
This is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's first on-air interview. Rivero booked AOC before her upset victory over incumbent Joe Crowley, when AOC was an unknown, first-time candidate. Rivero sensed she would do much better than predicted, and set up the interview as the race was underway-- the only broadcast journalist to do so.
